Sometimes when couples have troubles, both may decide a divorce is in order. Sometimes, though, only one person wants a divorce or wants some other type of arrangement the partner may be against. When this happens it can be difficult for the couple to reach an agreement. One thing that should not be done is to take violent action in order to force the partner into agreement. A New Jersey man recently pleaded guilty to conspiring to kidnap a Jewish man. The conspiracy was said to involve kidnapping the man in order to obtain a religious divorce for his wife. But that was not all that was involved in the alleged plot.
The man was reportedly kidnapped, blindfolded and bound. He was also allegedly assaulted by a group of people involved in the conspiracy until he agreed to give his wife the ‘get’, or Jewish divorce. The man who pleaded guilty was supposedly paid $100,000 by the wife for the plot back in 2010 and could be sentenced to life in prison.
