3 simple reasons to handle custody in mediation, not court

Divorcing couples often disagree on many of the critical points regarding the end of the marriage. Both spouses may have their own ideas about how to fairly divide assets and debts. It's also common to disagree about the best way to handle child custody, visitation and parental responsibilities.

Filing for child custody? Keep this in mind

There are many issues that can negatively or positively impact court proceedings when parents disagree about child-related matters either in divorce or as single parents. Child custody is a main concern for many New Jersey moms and dads. Anyone currently preparing to negotiate or litigate custody issues will want to consider several factors ahead of time.

Signs that mediation may be your best option for a NJ divorce

If you're considering a divorce in New Jersey, you likely have a lot of issues to consider. You may worry about the expense of a divorce and its potential impact on your children. Some people find the prospect of divorce so terrifying that they indefinitely delay the process, staying in an unhappy marriage for months or even years.

Jolie ordered to allow Pitt more parenting time

Many New Jersey readers are aware that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have faced off, several times, in court regarding custody and visitation for their six children. In fact, since the former couple divorced, it seems they have been unsuccessful at every turn in trying to resolve their parenting time disputes. The two were recently back in court, which resulted in a new ruling that Jolie must allow Pitt to see and/or communicate with his children without restriction.

Delaying divorce can lead to serious legal complications

Culinary icon Anthony Bourdain's recent tragic death shocked the world and left his friends and family members grief-stricken. As a celebrity, details of his personal life have often made headline news, such as the fact that he and his second wife had started divorce proceedings some years ago that were never finalized. The situation is evidence of the importance of acting in a timely manner when one wishes to legally end a marriage. New Jersey residents currently worrying about complications that may arise when divorce proceedings are delayed may want to follow this case.

Dr. Greg Lunceford raises property distribution issues in divorce

Most New Jersey residents would agree that having one's divorce plastered across news headlines would increase the stress of the situation. However, some people, including those who star on the reality TV series, "Married to Medicine," seem to be used to having their private lives made public, at least to some extent. Two of the show's stars, Doctor Greg Lunceford and his wife, Quad, are battling it out in court regarding property distribution issues and other divorce-related matters.

Honored as a "Best of New Jersey Among our Most Distinguished Americans of Italian Descent" and conferred the "Stivale D'Italia Award of Excellence" by the Italian Tribune for her "honesty, integrity and dedication to fair and ethical business practices" and her "outstanding reputation as a Woman Whose Word is Her Bond".
