Fathers' rights group angered by Kate Winslet's parenting

Most people in Essex County believe that it is in a child's best interest to have both parents in his or her life. Obviously, this is not always the case, but most of the time it is. For a long time, New Jersey family law courts favored the mother when it came to assigning parenting time. If the father got any time with his children it was certainly not close to half. Though the law no longer favors one parent over the other, there are some men who still believe that fathers' rights are not given as much respect as mothers' rights.

While New Jersey law doesn't govern her parenting time and child custody, Kate Winslet has recently drawn criticism from a fathers' rights group after she said in a recent interview with Vogue that she did not give her exes time with the children. It is true that the quote could have been taken out of context and Winslet just needs to better explain herself, the fact that she would give the fathers of her children little to no time with their children is patently unfair, at least according to this group.

The U.K.-based group Fathers4Justice has taken out an advertisement in which they lambast Winslet for not giving her children greater access to their fathers. The ad, which reads, "Kate, every child deserves their father this Christmas," is meant to draw attention to the large number of children in the U.K. who don't have a relationship with their fathers.

For Winslet's part, she and her lawyers have threatened to sue the group.
