Baby boomers remain the most likely to divorce

Newly engaged couples in New Jersey might be discouraged by the lingering statistics regarding the number of people who are ending their marriages. Even though many media sources are saying that the divorce rates are on the decline here in the United States, researchers are still saying that the percentage is holding steady above 50 percent. The current percentage is actually around 52.7 percent according to the latest research.

Avoiding pitfalls to help ensure financial security after divorce

Statistics suggest that women across the country -- including many here in New Jersey -- who end their marriages often end up in financial distress. According to one source, a woman's income will drop approximately 27 percent in the first year after the divorce. In contrast, a man's income could actually increase nearly 10 percent.

Getting divorced? Consider mediation.

If you are considering divorce, or are currently involved in a divorce, you probably have many questions about your future. In addition to sorting through all the details of the divorce, such as dividing assets, custody and support, you may be concerned about the legal process. Many people worry about the expense - both in time and money - caused by divorce, worry about maintaining their family's privacy and dignity, and want to avoid involving their children in a dramatic courtroom scene.

Divorce papers say Johnny Depp abused Amber Heard

Allegations of domestic violence are taken seriously by family courts across the country, including those here in New Jersey. Therefore, when a court on the west coast was provided photographs indicating that Johnny Depp had abused Amber Heard, his wife of just 15 months, the judge issued a restraining order requiring Depp to remain at least 100 yards from his wife. People who know Depp say that the accusations espoused in divorce papers recently filed by Heard are suspicious.
