Child support and Social Security for New Mexico parents

In some cases, New Mexico custodial parents who are owed back child support by their former spouses or children's noncustodial parents may be able to reclaim some or all of the sum owed from the noncustodial parent's Social Security benefits. The type and amount of the benefits the noncustodial parent receives and what proportion of the parent's income constituted by the benefits affects how much, if any, back child support may be reclaimed.

Ways to obtain custody of grandchildren

Since 2000, grandparents have had a more difficult time obtaining visitation rights or custody of grandchildren. When a grandparent in New Jersey wishes to obtain custody of a grandchild, they must make their case based on special circumstances that go above and beyond the general idea that custody would be in the child's best interest. This has set a new standard in the law that has effectively increased the legal standing of parents over grandparents in regards to custody decisions.

Examining marital property division when one spouse is an artist

New Jersey couples may be interested in some information about what happens to artwork during a divorce. While a piece of artwork is generally seen as just another piece of property by the law, the specifics of how it will be divided can depend on a number of factors.

Study results point to low doctor divorce rates

A recent study found that male doctors who work 40 hours a week or more are less likely to get divorced than others in the health care field. The study analyzed survey responses from 40,000 doctors and 200,000 pharmacists, nurses and others who provide health care services. While 24 percent of doctors said that they had been divorced, the divorce rate was 33 percent for nurses and 25 percent for dentists.

Honored as a "Best of New Jersey Among our Most Distinguished Americans of Italian Descent" and conferred the "Stivale D'Italia Award of Excellence" by the Italian Tribune for her "honesty, integrity and dedication to fair and ethical business practices" and her "outstanding reputation as a Woman Whose Word is Her Bond".
